MonetDB Database Server
The MonetDB Version 4 kernel has been used many years as our vehicle to distribute a fully functional database system for a larger audience. The technology is based on the BAT algebra kernel, functional enhancements through modules, and MIL (MonetDB Interface Language) as the interface for its front-ends. Download the server and, optionally, the XQuery package for a stable release.
The MonetDB Version 5 kernel represents a major departure. It is still based on the proven BAT algebra and functional modules. However, it innovates using a simplified interface language, called MonetDB Assembler Language (MAL), a functional rich environment for optimizer development, debugging and performance tracing, and a better coupling with the front-ends. Note: Avoid mixing databases built on both lines.
